Paper Straws Are Stupid

They get soggy and crumple up too much if you take too long with your drink. Paper straws are an objectively terrible invention. It's a subpar solution to a problem that shouldn't even be a problem in the first place. The idea that I need a straw to drink something off of a cup is the single most ridiculous thing ever. I guess you can call me a straw hater or something. It's just... isn't it kinda weird??? It is the norm to get a straw with your drink, even if it doesnt have a lid. Why?

IF the concern is the environmental impact of straws, the solution has existed for a GOOD while. The solution isn't to make straws out of easily recyclable and bio friendly materials. The solution is to phase them out completely. Hear me out. You go to McDonald's and you get a drink, the CUP is made out of PAPER but the lid is made of plastic still. It's the straw that for some reason needs to be paper? Why not just make a lid the same material as the cup with a drinking hole you can pop open with your finger. It would be a lid similar to the ones you get at coffee shops. That way, the whole thing is made of bio friendly materials AND your experience while drinking you beverage doesnt suffer because of it!! Just stop using straws altogether!!
